The Diverse Desert Kite Competition took place on the 4th May 2007 in the sunny Red Sea Zone Centre

This event saw competitors from 8 countries – Poland, Germany, Egypt, Holland, Belgium, Serbia, Slovenia and Czech lining up to compete. They were forced to wait for two days for the wind, but finally on third day the wind picked up and then they had to struggle with 6-8 bft of power.

After the morning skipper’s meeting the competitors started the race. This proved to be an action packed event that had a few crashes and collisions, but in first place was Lukasz "Ksiaze" Ceran (Poland - Diverse Extreme Team, Best Kiteboarding, Nobile, DaKine), followed by German Lutz Frankowiak and Egyptian Mohammed "Momo" Hosny. The first woman was Paulina Ziolkowska (Best, Nobile), followed by Gosia Maciejewska and Asia Litwin (Best, Nobile, DaKine). The Masters category (over 30) was won by Michal Surdykowski (EllaRe) and the best junior (under 18) was Emil Bartkiewicz. 

The next event was the spectacular Free Style Jam. Strong wind forced competitors to attempt high and long jumps. Showing no fear,  Paulina Ziolkowska (Best, Nobile) won the women’s category again. Thirteen  year old Asia Litwin (Best, Nobile, and DaKine) took second place proving herself to be the  Polish new star in women’s kiteboarding. Third was Gosia Maciejewska. 

The level of riding in the men’s semi-finals and final was really high. The Freestyle area was placed close to the shore to allow the spectators and judges to carefully watch the riders. The final was won by Lukas "Ksiaze" Ceran (Diverse Extreme Team, Best Kiteboarding, Nobile, DaKine), second was Marko Srdich from Serbia, and third was Lutz Frankowiak from Germany.  Robbie Fehdmann from Holland came fourth. The judges awarded two prizes to Egyptian riders – Emad Mahmoud for the best trick and Mohammed "Momo" Hosny for the best crash! Gosia Maciejewska won the prize for best "board off".

The main Judge was Adam Szymański. 

The award for "bad luck" rider went to Arek Jerzelkowski, who was in second place in the race when he fell next to a buoy, losing him valuable places. As a result he came in sixth place.

Also unlucky was Emad, who during the semi-finals of the Free Style Jam crashed on Arek’s kite, which excluded him from the final round. 

In the evening everybody had fun in Kite’s Lounge bar. After the presentation of the prizes there was a lottery, with every rider getting a cup, t-shirt or other kite gadget. The luckiest winner was Paulina Ziolkowska, who won a Kite Safari through Red Sea islands organized by Red Sea Zone Kiteboarding Centre. 

Diverse Desert was the first big international kite event in this part of Africa, with the prize purse exceeding 4000US dollars. It was such a success that it definitely will not be the last one!

The main sponsor was Diverse, but sponsorship was also provided by DaKine, Nobile, Liquid Force, Coalition and of course Red Sea Zone.

Lukasz "Ksiaze" Ceran Polish Champion!!! Add 2006/08/30 19:32:11

Polish Championships Zywiec Kite Cup had just finished. Great congratulations for our team RedSeaZone, especially for Ksiaze, who became Polish Champion. Unfortunately Murphy just before the competitions cought knee contusion, what interfere him in taking part in the last part of the competition.That made him fall from 3rd place to 4th place in overall- but great congratulations and we wish him fast recovering!
